Gibbons Again Listed Among the Am Law 200

For the third consecutive year, Gibbons was listed in the Am Law 200, the preeminent ranking of the nation’s leading law firms that is published annually by American Lawyer magazine. In 2009, based on revenues from fiscal year 2008, we reached our highest ranking yet – #188, ascending eleven full slots from our ranking last year. We are especially proud of our strength and growth in turbulent economic times. While average revenue per lawyer at the Am Law 100 decreased by 1.2 percent (the first decline since 1991) and were essentially flat at the "Second Hundred" firms, Gibbons showed an increase of 6.2 percent in that measure. Our overall revenue was up 11.4 percent.

Our improved ranking and exceptional revenues validate our business model and our regionally-focused, measured growth strategy. Regional firms make up a large percentage of the Second Hundred firms, despite the conventional wisdom that we are too unwieldy to compete with boutiques but too small to match the national scope and lofty reputations of the megafirms. Second Hundred firms like Gibbons, based in middle markets as we are, showed far better growth in a difficult economy than did either boutiques or megafirms. This success allows us to provide unmatched service to clients and to uphold our longstanding commitment to excellence.
