Gibbons Ranked Top Lawyer-Lobbying Firm in New Jersey

March 19, 2010
The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission has completed its evaluation of 2009 lobbying expenditures in the state, and for the second year in a row, Gibbons P.C. landed in the #1 position among lawyer-lobbying firms. Just seven years after launching its lobbying practice, Gibbons also ranked fourth among all contract lobbying firms in New Jersey.

The Gibbons Government Affairs Department held steady in lobbying revenues for 2009, despite the weakest economic environment in recent memory.

“The firm’s continued growth and success in Trenton ultimately stems from having outstanding, loyal clients, colleagues who continue to embrace and cross-sell our services, and the strong support of firm leadership,” says Patrick C. Dunican, Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of the firm, “We are pleased that our clients continue to turn to Gibbons as their ‘go to’ firm for navigating the governmental process and resolving issues that impact their bottom-line.”

Adds David A. Filippelli, a Director in the Government Affairs Department, “In this most challenging economy, it is all the more imperative that companies stay engaged with policymakers and stay focused on advancing their legislative and regulatory objectives. Our approach is one companies embrace: ‘good lawyering’ and longstanding relationships with decision-makers, combined with effective, strategic lobbying counsel. We are results-oriented, plain and simple.”

About the Gibbons Government Affairs Department
The Government Affairs Department at Gibbons provides comprehensive state and federal government relations counseling for entities in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including legislative lobbying, regulatory counseling, strategic communications, and interaction with state agencies. Gibbons attorneys have successfully provided governmental relations services to clients in the key industry sectors in the state, including the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, financial services, and telecommunications, among others. The Department was at the forefront of the legislative initiative that abolished the death penalty in New Jersey, signed into law by Governor Jon Corzine in December 2007. Gibbons represented New Jerseyans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (NJADP), the statewide grassroots organization behind the movement to abolish New Jersey’s death penalty law, in the multi-year, and multi-faceted, legislative and media strategy behind the repeal statute.
