Gibbons Private Equity Practice Ranked Again by DOW JONES Private Equity Analyst
Firm Significantly Increases Standing over Previous Rankings
April 15, 2010In its annual rankings of the country’s most active law firms in the private equity arena, Private Equity Analyst, a DOW JONES publication providing premier coverage of the industry, named Gibbons P.C. among the top-ranked firms nationwide for 2009, both in number of deals and number of funds. The firm attained substantially higher rankings than it ever has, jumping seven slots in the rankings by number of funds and five in the rankings by number of deals.
This marked the third year in a row the firm’s Private Equity practice, led by Corporate Department Directors Frank T. Cannone and Cheryl A. Gorman, has appeared on this prestigious list. Gibbons placed 37th for all law firms in the U.S. in the rankings by number of funds, having worked on 17 funds that had final close in 2009. Based on the 13 complex private equity deals Gibbons negotiated and closed in 2009, the firm placed 60th in the rankings nationwide by number of deals completed.
“Given the challenging economy last year, it is an exceptional accomplishment to have maintained such an in-demand practice throughout 2009,” says Mr. Cannone, Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department. “The size and complexity of the transactions we handle for our private equity clients continue to expand, and I am pleased Gibbons was recognized in the Private Equity Analyst for the quality and quantity of work we do.”
